Washing your clothes too often can cause them to wear out
too fast, yet washing them not often enough can lead to an unpleasant odor and
ill-fitting clothes. How often should you REALLY wash your clothes?
Jeans:
Every 5-6 wears. You don’t want to wash them every
time you wear them or else they will wear down and stretch out a lot quicker
than necessary. Once every two weeks or so should be enough.
Underwear:
Every wear. Which should be every single day. If
you are not doing this, PLEASE start now! ;)
Bras- Every 3 wears. Make sure to also wash them in a mesh
bag so they aren't tangled in the cycle and also it helps to maintain their
shape to lay them flat to dry.
Exercise Clothing:
Every wear. Sweat can cause bacteria to
grow, so let’s keep those gym clothes clean!
Tops:
Every 1-2 wears. This is where you can check the item for any spots or odor before hanging it up again.
Tights and Leggings:
Every 1-2 wears. This helps to prevent them from
getting saggy.
Jackets/ Blazers:
Every 5-6 wears.
Coats:
Every 2 months of wear
Pajamas:
Every 3-4 wears. (Note: If you shower before going
to bed you might be able to extend by 2 wears)
Sheets:
Every 10 days.
Obviously it is important to take into consideration the
activities you performed during the time you were wearing the clothes. Also keep in mind that white/ light colored clothing does need to be washed more frequently than dark
colored clothing.
