Things You Didn't Realize You Need To Clean

Winter is upon us which means FLU SEASON! Besides taking lots of vitamins, drinking lots of water, exercising and getting plenty of sleep, it is crucial to make sure you are living in a sanitary environment. There are things that we touch every single day that we never even think twice about cleaning! If you take only 5-10 minutes today and make this a part of your weekly routine, you could help kill that nasty bacteria lurking inside your home!

1- Toothbrushes: These things go in our mouths, need I say more? While you should change toothbrushes regularly, it is a good practice to disinfect them every week or two by boiling for three minutes.

2- Purse, wallet and phone: Spray these with some Lysol and wipe with a rag at LEAST once a week. It would be a great idea to get those credit cards out and disinfect those as well!

3- I-pods and ear buds: Ear buds can actually cause infections if they aren't cleaned regularly! Use a gentle cleaner such as a damp rag with some dawn and gently wipe.

4- TV remotes and game controllers: It is so easy to forget this one! I am sure there is more than one of you that doesn't remember the last time this was done! It is easy: spray with Lysol and wipe with a rag. It would also be a good idea to clean your laptop or computer while you are at it.

5- Light Switches and Door Knobs: These are known to hold a lot of bacteria so it is important to make this a regular part of your cleaning routine. You may as well clean drawer handles in the bathroom and kitchen while you are at it too.

6- Other items to mention: Clean your garbage cans monthly, inside and out. Dish scrub brush: I throw this in my dishwasher every time I do the dishes and it works like a charm! You can also put your hair combs and vacuum filters in the dishwasher to get them cleaned as well.

It really only takes 5-10 minutes but going through this quick routine definitely helps to keep your home sanitary and healthy! Sometimes it truly pays off to be a germaphobe.
